Chinese rice-wine, home style

Posted on July 14th, 2009 in Planning, future reference, how-to , , , , ,

I’ve found a great chinese website with a recipe for rice wine, which I’m eager to try out. The recipe is simple and, according to the author, the home-brew method of his family; apparently all over China people brew their own wine. Awesome.
In China, rice is life. Its prepared as a sticky porridge – both [...]

The best solution to The Road apocalypse is the house-boat, [...]

About a month ago I bought a new SATA harddrive. 1.5 terabytes for around $150 from newegg.com, it was going to solve my limited harddrive problem. And it did… eventually. Problem was when it was installed, windows wouldn’t boot up.
Now, this is the first SATA drive I’ve ever had, so I spent about a week [...]

Posted on November 5th, 2008 in future reference , , , , , ,

There are also Black Widow’s in this state. Luckily the Timber Rattlesnake is not only shy, but endangered. Although, being endangered is a real pity, it does mean its less likely to bite me. Moverover, “Their venom is intended for immobilization of prey & [...]

Polishing Silver

Posted on October 27th, 2008 in future reference, life , , ,

For future reference:
if you have something that looks silver (tarnish usually is a good give-away), and has a hallmark of a crown with “1883 F.B. Rogers” on the bottom, it is more than likely to be:

silver-plated rather than sterling silver, and
pre-1955, rather than exactly 1883.

F.B. Rogers Silver Company was founded in 1883, and they used [...]
