Polishing Silver

For future reference:
if you have something that looks silver (tarnish usually is a good give-away), and has a hallmark of a crown with “1883 F.B. Rogers” on the bottom, it is more than likely to be:

silver-plated rather than sterling silver, and
pre-1955, rather than exactly 1883.

How to Remove Tarnish from Copper

This is for future reference:  lemon juice and salt. Basically in a consistency like a thick paste. The grit of the salt acts as an abrasive when rubbed with a washcloth.
